My Mom’s Longevity Tips at Age 82

Charlotte Remakus & Ali Novitsky

Dear friends,

This past week, I spent time at Disney with my mom. She’s 82, vibrant, curious, and fully engaged in life. And it hit me:

Longevity isn’t about chasing extremes.

It’s about the quiet, consistent choices we make every single day.

We talk a lot about living longer.

But what we really want… is to live well longer.

My mom is a beautiful example of that because she’s intentional.

Here are her top longevity “rules,” if you will:

  • Keep a positive mindset

  • Name one thing you’re grateful for every day

  • Prioritize protein and veggies at every meal

  • Stay hydrated

  • Keep your mind active

  • Learn new skills (she’s currently teaching herself how to read EKGs!)

  • Walk in nature daily — bonus points for forest bathing

  • Nurture animals and connection

  • Invest in a small, meaningful circle of friends

  • Keep moving: walk, garden, stay active

Nothing extreme.

Nothing complicated.

But incredibly powerful when done consistently.

And maybe my favorite mindset shift of all:

Let’s aim to carry our own groceries until we’re 90.

Not from a place of pressure…

But from a place of possibility.

So today, I’ll leave you with this:

What is one small habit you can lean into, starting today, that supports the life you want to be living decades from now?

You deserve strength.

You deserve vitality.

You deserve a long, beautiful life — on your terms.

Sending you all the love,

Ali

P.S. My mom walked 20k steps in Epcot today.
